Summary

Office of Rural Broadband Act

This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission to establish the Office of Rural Broadband, whose duties shall include:

  • coordinating with the Rural Utilities Service and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to ensure the success of initiatives and programs,
  • coordinating with the Universal Service Administrative Company to maintain information regarding programs that deploy rural broadband,
  • coordinating with agencies to remove barriers to broadband deployment, and
  • tracking broadband Internet subscription rates in rural areas.
