Summary
Contaminant and Lead Electronic Accounting and Reporting Requirements (CLEARR) for Drinking Water Act of 2019
This bill generally revises provisions related to drinking water quality standards. Specifically, the bill
- provides for additional inspections of a public water system after certain standards violations;
- requires notification to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health agencies of serious standards violations;
- reauthorizes through FY2024 a grant program to assist the public water systems of disadvantaged and underserved communities to comply with drinking water requirements; and
- allows for grants to community organizations that provide education to minority, tribal, and low-income communities regarding drinking water contaminants.
