Summary

Virtual Community Support Act of 2020

This bill requires the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to award grants for community-based mental health services, substance-use disorder services, and peer support services to governmental health departments, behavioral health programs, nonprofit organizations, and institutions of higher education.

Recipients may use grant funds for purposes including care coordination, technology and training to provide services virtually, and certain workforce activities.

SAMHSA must report on the grant program, including specifically with respect to the COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019) emergency period.
