Summary

Reporting Efficiently to Proper Officials in Response to Terrorism Act of 2017 or the REPORT Act

This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security, in coordination with the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and, as appropriate, the National Counterterrorism Center, to submit to Congress an unclassified report on an incident of terrorism in the United States as soon as the investigation of such incident is completed by the primary government agency.

An "incident of terrorism" means an event declared by the FBI to be an act of terrorism.

Such report shall contain: (1) a statement of the facts of the incident; and (2) any recommendations for changes in practices or law, consistent with the Constitution, that could help prevent future attacks.
