This bill revises the procedures that organ procurement agencies must follow for hospitals to receive reimbursement through Medicare or Medicaid for payments made to such agencies. In addition to the existing requirements, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services may reimburse a hospital only if the organ procurement agency relies on standardized, objective, verifiable performance metrics, which must be established through administrative rulemaking within one year of the bill's enactment.
