Summary

This resolution recognizes September 11 as a day of solemn commemoration and extends deepest sympathies to the thousands of innocent victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and to their families, friends, and loved ones.

The resolution further

  • honors the heroism and sacrifices of U.S. military and civil personnel and their families,
  • credits the heroism of those who aided the victims of the attacks,
  • commends the military and intelligence personnel involved in the removal of Osama bin Laden, and
  • reasserts the commitment to opposing violent extremism and vows to disrupt terrorists and their activities.
