Summary
State plan for medical assistance services;durable medical equipment; complex rehabilitative technology. Requires the State Board of Medical Assistance Services to includein the state plan for medical assistance services a provision forthe payment of medical assistance for durable medical equipment consistingof complex rehabilitative technology, including manual and powerwheel chair bases and related accessories, for patients who residein nursing facilities.
State plan for medical assistance services; durable medical equipment; complex rehabilitative technology. Requires the State Board of Medical Assistance Services to include in the state plan for medical assistance services a provision for the payment of medical assistance of up to $7,500 for the initial purchase of durable medical equipment consisting of manual and power wheelchair bases and related accessories for patients who reside in nursing facilities and up to $7,500 for the replacement of durable medical equipment consisting of manual and power wheelchair bases and related accessories for patients who reside in nursing facilities when such replacement is (i) determined to be medically necessary or (ii) in accordance with regulations establishing service limits and replacement schedules for such durable medical equipment. The bill also provides that recipients of medical assistance shall not be required to pay any deductible, coinsurance, or copayment for medical assistance pursuant to this subdivision.
Department of Medical Assistance Services; durable medical equipment and complex rehabilitative technology; work group; report. Directs the Department of Medical Assistance Services to convene a work group with the Department of Planning and Budget and other relevant stakeholders to study the overall cost of and options for the provision of medical assistance to cover and reimburse complex rehabilitation technology (CRT) manual and power wheelchair bases and related accessories for qualified individuals who reside in nursing facilities. The bill requires the work group to report its findings to the Chairmen of the Senate Committees on Finance and Appropriations and Education and Health and the House Committees on Appropriations and Health, Welfare and Institutions by September 15, 2022.
