Summary

Protect European Energy Security Act

This bill requires reports to Congress from:

  • the Department of State on its efforts to work with European Union member states and institutions to promote energy security and decrease their dependence on Russian energy sources, and to oppose the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from Russia to Germany and the Turk Stream pipeline from Russia through the Black Sea to Turkey;
  • the Department of the Treasury on each U.S. entity and subsidiary involved in construction of such pipelines; and
  • the Director of National Intelligence on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline's impact on U.S. security, European energy security and defense, Russian influence in Europe, and Ukraine.
