Summary

Protecting American Communities from Wildfire Act

This bill

  • sets forth categorical exclusions of specified forest management activities from the preparation of an environmental assessment or an environmental impact statement,
  • gives the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management direct authority to carry out activities to reduce hazardous fuels and risk for loss of human life and property within the wildland-urban interface,
  • requires (currently authorizes) the Department of Agriculture to cooperate with state foresters and equivalent state officials for certain forest management and wildfire prevention purposes,
  • modifies the Community and Private Land Fire Assistance Program, and
  • makes permanent the authorization for such cooperative purposes and program.
