The "988 Lifeline Location Improvement Act of 2025" directs the establishment of an advisory committee to address challenges in transmitting geolocation information for calls to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. The committee will study policy considerations and technical implementation standards, and develop recommendations for potential legislation. It will consist of 15 members appointed by the Federal Communications Commission and the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The committee is expected to submit a report to Congress and the Federal Communications Commission within a year of the enactment of the Act. The committee will terminate 30 days after submitting the report, and the Act will be funded using existing appropriations.
