To amend the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 to designate United States Route 287 as Interstate Route I–47, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
This Act may be cited as the “I–47 Future Interstate Act of 2026”.
SEC. 2. Designation of Interstate Route I–47.
(a) Designation as high priority corridor.—Section 1105(c) of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (Public Law 102–240; 105 Stat. 2032; 135 Stat. 596) is amended by adding at the end the following:
“(103) United States Route 287 from State Highway 87 in Port Arthur, Texas, to United States Route 89 in Choteau, Montana.”.
(b) Designation and numbering as Interstate.—Section 1105(e)(5) of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Act of 1991 (Public Law 102–240; 109 Stat. 597; 135 Stat. 598) is amended—
(1) in subparagraph (A), in the first sentence, by striking “and subsection (c)(102)” and inserting “subsection (c)(102), and subsection (c)(103)”; and
(2) in subparagraph (C)(i), by adding at the end the following: “The route referred to in subsection (c)(103) is designated as Interstate Route I–47.”.
