To amend title 5, United States Code, to include Parkinson’s disease in the list of illnesses and diseases deemed to be proximately caused by employment in fire protection activities, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
This Act may be cited as the “Parkinson’s Protection for Firefighters Act”.
SEC. 2. Inclusion of Parkinson’s disease in list of illnesses and diseases deemed to be proximately caused by employment in fire protection activities.
Section 8143b(b) of title 5, United States Code, is amended—
(1) in the subsection heading, by striking “diseased” and inserting “diseases”;
(2) in paragraph (1), by striking “activedate” and inserting “active date”; and
(A) by redesignating subparagraphs (L) through (P) as subparagraphs (M) through (Q), respectively; and
(B) by inserting after subparagraph (K) the following:
“(L) Parkinson’s disease.”.
