The bill establishes the National Advisory Commission on Extreme Heat and Global Security, aiming to study global dimensions of extreme heat and heat-related extreme weather events. It will develop short and long-term plans of action to mitigate and adapt to extreme heat, involving regular outreach and consultation with Congress and Federal agencies. The Commission's 22 members, appointed by legislative leaders and the President, possess expertise in relevant fields and include diverse political affiliations. The Commission will hold hearings, obtain official data, and may seek administrative support and appoint a Director. It will provide reports, and upon completion of the study and its recommendations, Congress will hold a hearing on the reports within a year.
