This bill amends the Business & Commerce Code to require social media platforms to provide an easily accessible complaint system for explicit deep fake material. It defines "deep fake material" and "explicit deep fake material" and specifies the duties of social media platforms regarding user complaints. It mandates the removal of reported explicit deep fake material and the implementation of measures to prevent reposting. The bill also requires notice of the complaint system and procedures to be provided on the platform. Violation of the act is considered a deceptive trade practice and actionable under that subchapter. The Act will take effect on September 1, 2025.
