The "Small Business Artificial Intelligence Advancement Act" amends the National Institute of Standards and Technology Act to require the development and dissemination of resources for small businesses to use artificial intelligence. These resources, such as technical standards and best practices, are intended to aid small business concerns in understanding, adopting, and integrating artificial intelligence. The bill specifies requirements for these resources, including their applicability to a wide range of small businesses, promotion of understanding and adoption of proper use cases, and the use of technology-neutral and accessible technologies. The Director is also tasked with reviewing and updating these resources, with coordination through the Small Business Administration, and is required to submit a report to Congress on their development, dissemination, and use, including recommendations for further actions to support small business utilization of artificial intelligence.
Small Business Artificial Intelligence Advancement Act
This bill directs the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to develop or identify resources for small businesses to address concerns relating to the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Resources must be generally applicable, technology neutral, and based on relevant voluntary international standards, among other requirements.
NIST must coordinate with the Small Business Administration with respect to the distribution of these resources. NIST must also review and update the resources at least biennially.
