The bill establishes a Fire Innovation Unit to partner with private entities, non-profits, and universities in deploying and demonstrating new wildfire technologies. The Unit is to consult with key committees, identify technology priorities, and test these technologies in real-world wildfire scenarios. It will review existing partnerships and facilitate the acquisition of successful technologies. The Secretaries of Agriculture and the Interior will provide reports to Congress on potential technologies, costs, outreach efforts, and recommendations. The program will end after seven years.
