The bill aims to reduce food waste by awarding grants for waste studies, data collection, and projects, including anaerobic digestion. Nonprofit organizations and other entities can apply for grants, with priority given to diverse locations and those disproportionately affected by adverse health or environmental effects. Applicants must report on grant use, and the EPA will provide an annual report on the program's effectiveness. The bill authorizes $650 million annually from 2026 to 2035 for these efforts. Definitions of terms like 'food waste' and 'nonprofit organization' are also provided.
