Introduced
Introduced in House on Feb 9, 2026
Bill Intelligence
The bill requires NASA to develop a strategy with federal departments and agencies to monitor methane using different technologies and report to Congress. The goal is to improve the value of these capabilities for NASA's planning, non-Federal entities, and rapid mitigation of methane leaks. The bill does not grant enforcement authority to NASA or other federal entities that they did not previously have with regard to methane emissions. This bill aims to enhance methane monitoring and detection to strengthen American energy security and support the mitigation of methane leaks.
