The bill extends the sanctions on Burma for 10 years, expands the reporting requirements for determining sanctions, and limits shareholding benefiting the State Security and Peace Commission. It also establishes a United States Special Envoy for Burma, responsible for coordinating U.S. policy, sanctions policy, and international efforts, engaging with relevant organizations, and supporting humanitarian assistance and accountability efforts for ethnic minorities in Burma and the surrounding region. The Special Envoy will report to and coordinate with Congress.
