The "Commission on Americans Living Abroad Act of 2026" establishes a Commission to study the impact of federal laws and policies on US citizens living overseas. The Commission will consist of 10 members appointed by the President, with specific qualifications including expertise and political affiliation limitations. It will study various aspects affecting overseas citizens, including federal laws' costs and burdens and access to benefits and healthcare. The Commission will also consult with relevant organizations, hold hearings, and submit reports with recommendations. Federal agencies affected by the recommendations will be required to respond, and the Commission will terminate after submitting an update. An authorization of $2,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2027 and 2028 is provided for Commission activities.
