The bill aims to update FDA regulations to include pregnant women in clinical trials, raise awareness of research including pregnant and lactating women, and prioritize research for pregnant and lactating women at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. It seeks to facilitate compliance with regulations protecting pregnant women in research, promote their inclusion in clinical trials, educate on the benefits of their inclusion, provide information on available registries and clinical trials, and establish a research prioritization process. It also mandates public consultation, accountability, and oversight and authorizes appropriations for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 to fund these initiatives.
