House Bill 9110
119th Congress(2025-2026)
Promoting Authenticity with Influencer Disclaimers Act
Introduced
Introduced in House on Jun 2, 2026
Bill Intelligence
This bill amends the Federal Election Campaign Act to require clear disclaimers on internet content paid for by political committees. The disclaimer statement should be readily legible or clearly audible, stating that it's been paid for by a political committee. There are exceptions for content posted on a political committee's own website, and content posted by compensated employees on their social media if the only cost is staff time. However, if an employee's primary duty is posting content on their social media, the exception doesn't apply. The bill will be effective from January 1, 2027, and regulations will be promulgated by the Commission by the same date.
