This Act establishes the "Methane Removal Research Initiative" to explore methods for reducing methane in the atmosphere. The Secretary of Energy will oversee this initiative, collaborating with various government agencies, universities, and private entities. Research activities will address atmospheric oxidation, biological methods, new materials, and tools for assessing methane removal methods. The Secretary must provide regular reports to Congress on research progress, scientific knowledge, and resource needs. An authorization of $25,000,000 for each fiscal year from 2027 to 2031 is proposed for funding this initiative.
