The Colonel Gary LaGrange AgVets Act of 2026 amends the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of 1998 to provide grants for veteran education in farming and ranching. Eligible entities, such as colleges, nonprofit organizations, and state departments of agriculture, can receive competitive grants for training and educational programs. The grants are to be used for developing curricula, providing education and workshops, and supporting veteran farmers and ranchers. These entities must also provide non-Federal matching funds. It authorizes $5,000,000 for each fiscal year from 2027 to 2031 to carry out this section.
Colonel Gary LaGrange AgVets Act of 2026
This bill directs the Department of Agriculture to provide competitive grants to eligible entities for the purpose of establishing and enhancing farming and ranching opportunities for veterans through education and training services.
Entities eligible for the grants include cooperative extension services, land-grant colleges and universities, non-land-grant colleges of agriculture, state departments of agriculture, and nonprofit organizations.
