The bill establishes the Urban Bird Treaty Program to conserve bird habitats in urban areas through partnerships with federal, tribal, state, and municipal agencies, NGOs, community groups, and academic institutions. It includes a grant program for eligible entities to conduct research, planning, and conservation activities, with emphasis on equitable distribution of awards among small, midsize, and large cities. The Secretary of the Interior will oversee the program and may collaborate with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. An authorization of $200,000 is provided for each fiscal year from 2027 to 2033 to fund these efforts.
